The God Anubis
Usually represented as a dog or jackal, Anubis was the chief god of the dead before Osiris, and who accompanied the souls associated with the necropolis, was known as "God's holy ground."
Depictions of Anubis were placed in tombs to protect the mummification chamber and keep it from harm.
Anubis was defined as "Texts of the Pyramids" as the fourth son of Ra Hesat generated with the goddess, the head of a cow.
