Symbols Celtic torques
One of the most remarkable figures depicted on the Gundestrup cauldron is that of Cernunnos, the antlered god, who, around the neck, wears a collar open, the torques, and in the hand is holding another.
Other Celtic deities are depicted with this ornament: it was certainly a symbol of dignity and high rank (important people were buried with a torques).
Archaeological excavations have unearthed many treasures consist of such necklaces and coins, probably buried as an offering to the gods.
