The Tree of Life

Related to the presence of water, the tree was the symbol of life and not only among the Egyptians, especially the palm and sycamore, where the latter played a greater importance because it was assumed that two specimens grow at the gates of Heaven , where Ra rose daily.

The worship of trees was widespread in various forms throughout the Nile valley and it is from a plant were supposed to have created many of the gods: Horus dall'acacia, Ra from the sycamore, the tamarisk Wepwawet.

The depictions of the female spirits of trees, emblems of heavenly goddesses Nut and Hathor, abound; the gods offered water and fruit to the soul of the deceased represented as a bird.
