God of life symbol of Khepri Scarab
It was believed that the scarab, symbol of self creation, came into being out of the balls of dung in which protected its eggs and its larvae.
Was associated with the sun so the light and heat which give life; specimens of pottery scarab were often placed in tombs as a symbol of resurrection.
In his solar aspect the animal was the morning sun, personified by the figure of God Khepri.
Beetle in the form of the god stood in the morning as the star on the eastern horizon. Mighty god of Khepri was also a symbol of rebirth.
